Obituary of Linda Spires

Linda Gail Gartman-Spires, 65, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 23, 2024. She was born in California on September 11, 1958.

Linda was a remarkable woman who dedicated her life to serving others. Throughout her career, she worked in various industrious professions, but it was her role as a paramedic where she truly excelled. Her passion for helping those in need led her to become not only a skilled paramedic but also a compassionate teacher, passing on her knowledge and expertise to others in the field.

She is survived by her beloved brothers, Billie R. Jenkins II, and Edgar Jenkins; her stepsisters, Jimmie Kay, and Barbara Ann; her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Brian and Jennifer Carroll; stepchildren: Jackie Gartman, Laverne Spires, and Stacy Spires; and her cherished grandchildren: Joseph Carroll, Matthew Carroll, Carolina Gartman-Carroll, Judson (Abigail) Adkins and Maggie Bedenbaugh; as well as her very dearest friend, Thomas C. Collier (T.C.). Linda was preceded in death by her brothers, Walter Jenkins, and Johnny B; her son, James R. Gartman; her beloved daughter, Carolyn Gartman; her grandson, Joshua Fogle; and her great grandson, Joshua Carroll; as well as many more loved ones. Linda's love for her family knew no bounds, and she cherished every moment spent with them, creating precious memories that will be treasured forever. She was a follower of Christ who led her through this challenging time.

In addition to her dedication to her work and family, Linda found joy in painting and exploring new places through travel. Her adventurous spirit, creative soul, and selfless nature touched the lives of all who knew her.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 5th, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Visitation will be held at 12 noon, followed by a celebration of life at 1pm.

A special thanks to the hospice nurses and first responders who showed kindness and respect to Linda during her final days. Their care and support provided comfort to her and her family during this challenging time.

Linda's legacy of compassion, generosity, selflessness, and love will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, knowing she made a profound impact on the lives of others.
