Obituary of Ronald Devon Floyd

Ronald Devon Floyd, age 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 13th, 2024 at his home with his wife, Irene, by his side.

Devon was born on March 24th, 1945 in Monroe, North Carolina to Rev. Carlyle Floyd and Ruby Floyd. He was a 1963 graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School. He worked at Eastern Airlines for 24 great years and volunteered as a Dixie Youth Baseball Coach for 15 years.

Devon married Irene Floyd on April 27, 1991. The two were each other’s life-long companions and friends. He was blessed with three sons, Brian, Eric, and Keith Floyd. Devon will be remembered for his love for Colorado, passion for sports, and enjoyment for all things outdoors. When not riding the lawn mower, you could find Devon at one of his grandchildren’s sporting events, in his favorite recliner watching golf, or grilling in his backyard.

He is survived by his loving wife, Irene Floyd; his children, Brian Floyd, Eric Floyd (Melanie), and Keith Floyd (Mercy); his 8 grandchildren, Emilee Floyd, Grayson Floyd, Makenzie Pettit (Turk), Lauren Floyd, Tyler Floyd, Sydney Floyd, Riley Seal (Brock), Porter Floyd; 3 great grandchildren, Tanner, Westan, and River Grace; sister, Mary Menger (Jay); and many friends.

The family will be having a private service and just ask for thoughts and prayers as they navigate through the loss of a husband, father, and who his grandchildren called “Papaw”.
