Obituary of Sally Lou Swindler Beall

It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of our much beloved Sally Lou Swindler Beall, who, with her family by her side, passed away on March 16, 2024, at the age of 95 years. She was born October 12, 1928, the daughter of the late William Monroe Swindler and Gladys Elizabeth McFarland Swindler.

Sally Lou will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Charles Page Beall (Nina) and William Paul Beall; by her daughters, Kay Frances Beall, Sally Ann Beall, and Connie Beall Stroble (Ronnie); by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and by numerous other family members and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, William Page Beall.

Sally Lou’s most cherished legacy in life was her role as mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Sally Lou treasured her family but, most importantly, she deeply loved Jesus and pointing people to Him. Sally Lou was well known for her love of her Bible and regularly leaving scripture reading assignments around the house on post-it notes for all of us to read. She delighted in nature, especially her yellow butterflies, hummingbirds, and red birds, and she loved flowers of all kinds and colors. With her daily grocery lists, everyone knew Sally Lou enjoyed food, her multiple cups and kinds of coffee (with Great Value creamer), and drawers filled with her many snacks! Her favorite place to be was at home, in her comfy chair, where you could often find her keeping her mind sharp with Penny Press word search books, watching Fox News, and planning what her daughter, Connie, would be making her for dinner. Her room was filled with candles, pictures, greeting cards, and much attention from her two chocolate labs. Her family will greatly miss her joy-filled spirit, hearing the sound of her voice (especially hearing her sing hymns), her laughter, and her love of life. In her own words, “I want to show by example a positive attitude, and that one can be happy at any age with God, with the Lord Jesus. We go on, but memories never die.”

A celebration of Sally Lou’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Thompson Funeral Home, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. Visitation will be from 11:00am-12:00pm, immediately followed by a service in the chapel from 12:00pm-1:00pm. A brief graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Sally Lou’s name may be made to Seacoast Church of Irmo, Community Outreach, 411 Western Lane, Irmo, SC 29063.
