Obituary of Marguerite G. Hazelwood

Marguerite G. Hazelwood, 96, of Lexington, South Carolina, passed away on March 19, 2024. 

Visitation will be Monday, March 25, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Thompson Funeral Home, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, South Carolina 29073. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on March 25, 2024 following the visitation at Thompson Funeral Home with Pastor for Senior Adults and Congregational Care Dan Williams of Lexington Baptist Church officiating.  Burial will immediately follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, South Carolina 29209, at 12:00 noon.  Arrangements are by Thompson Funeral Home. 

Marguerite was born in Springfield, Alabama to the late Orien L. and Beatrice B. Glidewell on November 2, 1927.  She was married to Donald R. Hazelwood for 71 years.  She was a homemaker and took immense joy in providing a loving home for her husband and children.  She loved the Lord and was a devoted Sunday School teacher for most of her adult life.     

Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and two sisters.  She is survived by her husband, Donald Hazelwood, and their two daughters, Donna Hazelwood Deeder (Ron) and Belinda Hazelwood Sells (Lloyd); as well as five grandchildren, Cherri D. Stasney, Ronald R. Deeder, Jr., Amanda S. Phipps (Todd), Shanna S. Fell (Jason), and Joshua L. Deeder (Ashley); and great-grandchildren, Ava Lynn Deeder, Thomas Reeves Deeder, Kendall Riley Fell, John Joseph Stasney, Ashton Luke Deeder, Chessi Isabelle Stasney, and Ethan Rhame Fell.

Pallbearers will be Ronald R. Deeder, Sr., Lloyd D. Sells, Ronald R. Deeder, Jr., Joshua L. Deeder, Jason R. Fell, and Todd A. Phipps. 

The family of Marguerite Hazelwood extends a very gracious thank you to her church family at Lexington Baptist Church for all the love, prayers and support that you gave her.  Your visits and cards meant so much to her.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Samaritan’s Purse.
