Obituary of Penny Wellons Cofer

Mrs. Penny Wellons Cofer, 66, of West Columbia, SC, passed away on Monday, March 25^th, 2024, after a long illness.  Born in Conway, SC on July 26^th, 1957, she was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Robert M. Wellons (Donald and Jackie.)

Penny was a truly unique woman who always cared for others more than herself.  She found joy in simple things like traveling, shopping for little treasures for her friends, and sharing meals with loved ones.  She enjoyed fellowship at Trinity Baptist in Cayce, SC with her friends and her activities with the Red Hat Society.

She attended Limestone College and The University of South Carolina and maintained friendships from those years.

She is survived by her husband, James “Jimmy” Cofer; her stepson, Michael; her brothers, Eric (Angie) and Patrick Wellons; as well as nieces and a nephew.

The memorial service for Penny will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 30^th in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home, 4720 Augusta Rd. Lexington, SC, with burial to follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive guests an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
